100 calligraphers at Tehran exhibition write surah Al-Fil in protest at Israeli genocide in Gaza

AhlulBayt News Agency: During a workshop held at an arts exhibition underway in Tehran a large number of calligraphers wrote Surah Al-Fil of the Holy Quran.

Some 100 calligraphers from 10 provinces of Iran took part in the initiative.

The calligraphy of the 105th, which is about the destruction of army of God’s enemies by flocks of birds, was in protest at the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

Their artwork were then put on display at the expo, dubbed “Tale of Rain”, which is underway at the Niavaran Cultural Center in Tehran.

The Quranic arts exhibition has been mounted by the Specialized Gallery of Iranian-Islamic Arts and will run until May 20.

Israel launched a brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023 and continues the genocidal war despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in the enclave.

More than 35,200 Palestinians have since been killed, the vast majority of whom have been women and children, and over 79,200 others injured since last October following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas.

More than seven months into the Israeli war, vast swathes of Gaza lay in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered Tel Aviv to ensure that its forces do not commit acts of genocide and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
