Ayatollah Khamenei’s letters awakened Western youths

A forum was held at the 35th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) to discuss two letters by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei to the youth in the West.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A forum was held at the 35th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) to discuss two letters by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei to the youth in the West.

A number of experts addressed the forum on Monday, stressing that the letters awakened the youth in the US and Europe.

Masoud Tavakkoli, an international affairs expert, said that in the first letter, the Leader talked to the West’s youths about Islam, noting that they should learn about Islam free from negative anti-Islam propaganda.

He also stressed the need for training experts to introduce Islam to the West.

Mohammad Mehdi Ahmadi, the former cultural attaché of Iran in Spain, said the message of the Leader caused the Western youths’ conscience to awaken.

He said it created a discourse against the Western discourse that seeks to portray Islam as a religion of violence.

He quoted a renowned Spanish author as telling him that the translation of Ayatollah Khamenei’s letters showed that his discourse is different from those who speak in the name of Islam but the outcome of their conduct is violence.

The Spanish author noted that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution calls on Western youths to learn about Islam through its original sources, that is the Quran and Etrat, Ahamdi stated.

Avandar Turkli, a representative of the Tasneem Publication in Turkey, was another speaker at the forum.

He said that after the letters of Ayatollah Khamenei were translated and published in Turkish by the publication, it was received so well that the Kawthar Publication also decided to publish the book.

He called for more efforts to promote and explain the content of the letters.

Next, Hossein Mohammadsirat, a faculty member of Imam Sadiq (AS) University, took the podium, saying that after a decade since the letters were published, the ground has been prepared for the realization of their content.

He said the campus protests in the US and Europe are somehow the realization of the prediction made by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

At the end of the forum, translations of two books by Ayatollah Khamenei in Urdu, Pashtu and Swedish were unveiled.

Ayatollah Khamenei first wrote a letter to the youths of Europe and North America on January 21, 2015, to elaborate on the reasons behind the West’s effort to spread Islamophobia.

Later on November 29, 2015, Ayatollah Khamenei sent the second letter following a series of terrorist attacks in France, elaborating on the real factors behind terrorism and asking the young people to “lay the foundation for an appropriate and honorable interaction with the Muslim world based on correct knowledge and with deep insight and by taking advantage of tragic experiences (of the past)”.
