AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The unveiling ceremony of the latest publications of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in the field of European and African languages and two audio books in Spanish language was held on Monday with the presence of Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly at the Tehran International Book Fair.
Sohail Asad, missionary and cultural activist of the international sphere, stated that some insist that the age of books has declined and people do not deal with books and reading, and added many of the contents that were once unique in a book It has been transferred to different forms and formats. Many books are presented in the form of art, theater, documentary film and cinema, and the message of the book is conveyed in every possible way.
"Westerners are looking to sell a lot of books and the number and quantity are very important for them. They say that if you have sold ten million copies, then you have a good book!," he added.
"At the beginning of the Iranian Islamic Revolution, a book by Martyr Motahari reached our country, and they copied this book and promoted it among Shia children, and one of them became a seminary student. In Cuba, about 200 Shias became Shia with copies of Imam Khomeini's speeches and the Supreme Leader. In order for the book to make sense, it is very important to convey its content," he said.
Sohail Asad stated that Hollywood attracts and intellectually feeds the general public and carefree people, but we feed intellectual elites with books. The result is that all the elites follow the truth in front of the people who are looking for appearance and beauty.
"In the international environment, when you talk to an elite and a university professor, he doesn't say that I saw a movie and was deceived and became a person of truth, but he says that I read a certain book and became changed person," he added.
He said that there are tens of thousands of foreign students in Qom who were converted to Shia by reading books, and none of them became Shia through Hollywood theater and cinema.
