Lebanese MP: Israel's war will only result in greater strength of Hamas

A senior Lebanese lawmaker has highlighted the Israeli regime’s failure to attain any military achievement after more than seven months of brutal strikes against the Gaza Strip, stressing that the ongoing onslaught will only strengthen the Hamas resistance movement.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A senior Lebanese lawmaker has highlighted the Israeli regime’s failure to attain any military achievement after more than seven months of brutal strikes against the Gaza Strip, stressing that the ongoing onslaught will only strengthen the Hamas resistance movement.

Mohammad Raad, head of Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc – the political wing of Hezbollah – in the Lebanese parliament, said on Sunday that Hamas would emerge not only as a principal player in Gaza and occupied Palestinian territories but also in the Muslim world.

“All Palestinian factions, particularly Hamas, were close to working out a formula aimed at ending the Gaza war. The Israeli prime minister, however, adamantly insisted on Rafah invasion and continuation of atrocities,” Raad pointed out.

He noted that US officials have been unable to dissuade Benjamin Netanyahu from an Israeli military offensive in Rafah, and have publicly warned for the first time that Washington would stop supplying weapons to the Tel Aviv regime if Israeli forces make a major invasion of the southern Gaza Strip city.

“This is a solid proof that all munitions used in the destruction of Gaza and massacre of its Palestinian population are US-built.

“Following the US administration’s opposition to an Israeli assault on Rafah, Netanyahu said he will implement the plan single-handedly. Such comments reveal that the war which started more than seven months ago and has been raging on up until now is sponsored by the United States, Britain, Germany and France,” the senior Lebanese parliamentarian said.

Raad stressed that Israel has failed to achieve any of the declared goals of its war on Gaza, including eliminating Hamas and freeing its captives, after 219 days of a genocidal onslaught.

“Hamas will have the upper hand in the Gaza conflict. It will emerge not only as an influential power in the Gaza Strip and Palestinian territories but also among Arab states and in the Muslim world,” he said.

At least 35,034 people have died across Gaza since October 7 last year, when the Israeli regime started attacking the blockaded strip of land in response to Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by the territory’s resistance movements.

Women and children comprise more than 70 percent of the victims of the war, which has also wounded as many as 78,755 others.

Despite the unabated campaign of bloodshed and destruction, the regime has so far fallen short of realizing its goals, including defeating Gaza’s resistance and causing forced displacement of the territory’s entire population to neighboring Egypt.
