Custodian of Imam Reza shrine: Karamat celebrations opportunity to deepen understanding of Imamate

The custodian of the Imam Reza (AS) shrine says the 10-day Karamat celebrations provide an opportunity to deepen one’s understanding of the status of Imamate.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The custodian of the Imam Reza (AS) shrine says the 10-day Karamat celebrations provide an opportunity to deepen one’s understanding of the status of Imamate.

Hojat-ol-Islam Ahmad Marvi made the remarks in an exclusive Op-Ed that as Shia Muslims in Iran and across the world are marking the Karamat celebrations.

They mark the ten days between the birth anniversaries of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) and Imam Reza (AS), the daughter and son of the 7th Shia Imam.

Thursday, May 9, was the first day of the lunar Hijri month of Dhul Qaada, which marked the birthday anniversary of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA).

Imam Reza’s (AS) birthday anniversary will be celebrated on the 11th day of Dhul Qaada, which falls on Monday, May 20, this year.

Here is the full text of the Op-Ed:

The Holy Quran guides the Islamic Ummah to follow the “qualified leaders,"  align with the "truthful,"  seek wisdom from the “firm in knowledge,"  and consult the “people of remembrance." It reminds us that the true essence of the Quran is held only by the “purified ones.”

The 10-day Karamat celebrations serve as a reminder to revisit and pay heed to the genuine examples of the “qualified leaders,"  the "truthful,"  the “firm in knowledge,"  the “purified ones,"  and the “people of remembrance,"  who are none other than the Ahl al-Bayt (AS).

Without a doubt, the Quran is a guidebook for humanity, leading us towards prosperity and salvation. Just as people needed the teachings and interpretations of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to understand the revelations during his lifetime, Muslims continue to need guidance to correctly comprehend the teachings of this holy book after his passing. This guidance is provided by the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), who convey the teachings of this sacred book and its true message.

Ahl al-Bayt (AS), just like the Holy Prophet (PBUH), serve as the best, most tangible, and objective examples to clear any ambiguity in the path of understanding profound Islamic teachings in the context of life and the essence of a believer’s life. They are the best interpreters and exponents of the noble teachings of the Holy Quran. Hence, the Karamat celebrations present a significant opportunity to deepen our understanding and appreciation of the position of Imamate and Wilayat.

During this 10-day period, the best practice is to deepen our understanding and knowledge to strengthen our religious foundation and promote the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), particularly the pure teachings of Imam Reza (AS) in society. This is because solidifying and reinforcing our faith is the only way to safeguard ourselves from straying and to follow the path of guidance and salvation.

The beloved Prophet (PBUH) has highlighted in the Hadith of the Thaqalayn the importance of embracing the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and adhering to the teachings of the Book and Itrat as the means of salvation from deviation and destruction. He noted that the path of the Holy Quran and the fulfillment of its instructions can only be truly achieved through the way of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS).

The Islamic community, guided by the strategic and repeated instructions of the Messenger of God (peace be upon him), has come to understand that neglecting the holy presence of the infallible ones (peace be upon them) can lead to misguidance.

Imam Reza (AS), according to the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), is the source of many profound monotheistic and spiritual teachings. Each of his significant statements has unveiled Quranic truths and continues to illuminate the path for the entire Islamic Ummah.

Furthermore, since his arrival in Iran, Imam Reza (AS) has been the catalyst for numerous blessings. He is one of the main reasons for the Iranian people’s familiarity with the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and the spread of Quranic and Shia teachings in this region. Among the Infallible Imams (AS), Imam Reza (AS) is the only Imam that Iran had the honor of hosting.

Therefore, expressing gratitude for this immense blessing is contingent upon gaining knowledge and understanding about the position of this imam and following his instructions and teachings.
