AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Italian police clashed with pro-Palestine protestors in Venice on Thursday as the G7 Justice meeting was held in the lagoon city.

The protesters, numbering around 200 according to local media, arrived in Venice from the Veneto region and neighboring areas.

The footage from the demonstration shows protesters carrying banners and Palestinian flags, as well as setting off colored smoke bombs. They can be heard chanting slogans such as "free free Palestine."

They aimed to march closer to the venue of the G7 Justice meeting, leading to confrontations with the police.

In an attempt to prevent the demonstrators from entering the cordoned-off area near the meeting, police deployed baton charges to hold them back.

The G7 meeting in Venice is taking place on 9 and 10 May, focusing on global issues, including ongoing support for Ukraine, and strategies to tackle illegal migration and drug trafficking.

The presence of the G7 meeting in Venice drew the attention of various activist groups, leading to the protest.
