Libyan capital hosting int’l Quran translation conference

An international conference on translation of the Quran has been launched in Tripoli, the capital of Libya.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): An international conference on translation of the Quran has been launched in Tripoli, the capital of Libya.

The conference got underway on Monday and will run for three days, according to the news agency Qena.

It has been organized by the Libya Quran Assembly and sponsored by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).

‘Precise translation of the Quran’s concepts, a means for promotion of Islam’ is the main theme of the scholarly event.

The subthemes include cultural features of the language of the Quran, history of Quran translation, theories of translation, and role of academic and research institutions in Quran translation.

A large number of scholars, researchers and religious figures and officials from different countries are taking part in the conference.

It aims to discuss the available translations of the Quran, the problems in the translations, and planning for producing easy-to-understand and at the same time precise renderings of the Holy Book in different languages.

On the first day of the event, experts and scholars from Tunisia, Libya, Iraq, Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria and Oman offered their views on the themes of the conference.
