Inscription unveiled, mounted on Sheikh Baha’i’s tomb in Imam Reza shrine

An inscription has been unveiled and mounted on the tomb of Baha al-Din Muhammad, also known as Sheikh Baha’i, in Imam Reza shrine, northeast of Iran.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): An inscription has been unveiled and mounted on the tomb of Baha al-Din Muhammad, also known as Sheikh Baha’i, in Imam Reza shrine, northeast of Iran.

The marble inscription has been put up in the mirror work of Sheikh Baha’i Portico under the auspices of Construction and Maintenance Organization of the shrine.

The inscription gives a brief life history of the Levantine Arab Shia Islamic scholar, poet, philosopher, architect, mathematician and astronomer, who lived in the late 16th and early 17th centuries in Safavid Iran.

The Sheikh Baha’i played a central role in the expansion of Imam Reza shrine with his valuable architecture and construction works, as well as custodianship and management.

The scholar served in numerous areas including architecture of the shrine, designing and construction of the dome, minarets and porticos, illumination, and management of endowments.

He was also known for making a sundial, authoring several books on Imam Reza, and teaching science in the shrine.
