US Kentucky Muslims wave Palestinian flags, call for end to Israeli war on Gaza

AhlulBayt News Agency: After performing Eid al-Fitr payers, Muslims in Louisville, US state of Kentucky, waved flags of Palestine and called for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Eid al-Fitr is traditionally a celebration of the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Where Ramadan calls for fasting and self-discipline, Eid is to be a joyful occasion.

For Muslims this year, amid the war in Gaza, joy is harder to come by for those thinking of family and fellow Muslims ending their fast amid ongoing violence.

"What we call for all the time is peace for everybody," said Said Abusalem, who has family in the Gaza Strip.

Following Eid prayers at the Kentucky Exposition Center, many Muslims drove through Louisville in a procession, blowing car horns, and waving Palestinian flags and calling for an end to the months-long Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, particularly through United States intervention.

"We are calling on the US government and the senators and everyone to cease the fire and to stop the murder and the killing of these innocent children and civilians," said Abusalem.
