AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The former editor-in-chief of Iran’s Astronomy magazine spoke about the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon this year saying,” The Shawwal crescent moon can be seen with the naked eye on Tuesday, April 9 immediately after sunset in all the cities of Iran, and this situation is similar in most Islamic countries.”
Former editor-in-chief of Iran’s Astronomy Magazine Kazem Kokaram, spoke about the sighting of the crescent moon in other Islamic countries saying,” This situation also applies to the Persian Gulf countries including, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Lebanon, European countries, and countries located in North Africa and North America, But for countries in East Asia such as India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Malaysia, seeing the crescent moon is not as easy as in Iran and it requires astronomical tools such as binoculars and telescopes.”
He emphasized,” According to the astronomical characteristics of the crescent moon of Shawwal, we can confidently predict that this year, after many years, the crescent moon will be seen with easy conditions in most Islamic countries, and as a result, we will witness the simultaneous announcement of Eid al-Fitr in these countries.”
