AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Salat (prayer) of Eid al-Fitr in the Iranian capital will be led by Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Like previous years, the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) will host the Eid prayers.
The prayers will be held at 8:30 in the morning.
Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, will be celebrated in Iran either on Wednesday or Thursday, April 10 or 11, depending on the sighting of the new moon.
The holiday celebrates the conclusion of 29 or 30 days of fasting from dawn to sunset.
The first day of the month of Shawwal on the lunar calendar is called Eid al-Fitr, which is marked when the first crescent of the new moon is sighted.
In many Muslim countries, including Iran, moon-sighting committees are set up to confirm the start of the month of Shawwal.
