Al-Wefaq: Bahraini regime refuses to register and document 124 Shia cemeteries for years

The Al-Wefaq Observatory, affiliated with Al-Wefaq Society, stated that "the authorities have been obstructing the registration and documentation of 124 Shia cemeteries for years, despite the mediation of several influential figures and their efforts to resolve the issue."

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Al-Wefaq Observatory, affiliated with Al-Wefaq Society, stated that "the authorities have been obstructing the registration and documentation of 124 Shia cemeteries for years, despite the mediation of several influential figures and their efforts to resolve the issue."

The observatory stated in a post on Instagram on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, that "the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs claims to facilitate the registration of Jaafari Endowments, but the confiscation of several lands in recent months, such as the Hussainiya Abdul Hay land plot in the Saar area and the farm of Sheikh Saleh Mosque in the Tubli area, proves otherwise."

It pointed out that "the authorities seized the farm of Sheikh Saleh Mosque and turned it into private property, despite it being officially registered in the Endowments Directorate, possessing a cadastral certificate, and being leased for years to official entities."

It further considered that this demonstrates the extent of manipulation and media deception practiced by the authorities in this regard. "It is not surprising that their activity includes opening several mosques, many of which were built at the expense of the people, to cover up demands for the registration of hundreds of Shia endowments, and cover up efforts to confiscate them."

The observatory also emphasized that "the issue of Jaafari endowments is a glaring example of religious and sectarian persecution amid the continued policy of media deception regarding the authorities' promotion of coexistence, tolerance, and rapprochement, with these headlines having no tangible existence on the ground."
