AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Iranian Embassy and Islamic centers in Dublin, Ireland, have organized a seminar to discuss the root causes of Islamophobia and ways to combat it.
The seminar was held on Saturday on the occasion of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, which is marked on March 15.
Iran’s Charge d’affaires to Ireland Kazem Sharifi-Kazemi attended the seminar. Ambassadors and diplomats of Muslim countries, Christian thinkers as well as representatives from Irish human rights and peace NGOs were also in attendance.
Participants emphasized the need for more interaction between Muslim and non-Muslim societies as part of ways to combat Islamophobia, arguing that the absence of such an interaction provides anti-Islam individuals and groups with the opportunity to foment Islamophobia.
They also said that schools should educate students on true Islam so that they can obtain a deeper understanding of the religion and Islamic values.
Back in 2022, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution during its 76th session, which designated March 15 as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.
