Ahlulbayt News Agency: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has described unabated genocide in Gaza Enclave as the most unprecedented tragedy of the century, calling on the United Nations to stop the human tragedy.
In a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and also foreign ministers of Islamic and other countries in the world on Wednesday, Amir-Abdollahian warned about the continuous crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza.
The Iranian foreign minister expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the West Bank of Palestine, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
He lamented the inability of the United Nations Security Council to take effective action due to the US exercising its right of veto.
Amir-Abdollahian called for urgent and practical measures from the international community to support the Palestinian people, cease military attacks on Gaza, and alleviate the dire situation.
Unabated genocide in the Gaza Strip, Rafah, and committing war crimes in the West Bank, along with the Israeli regime's refusal to send humanitarian aid and food to the Enclave, and imposing starvation on Gazans to continue the genocide and the killing of women and children, have raised the alarm for the most unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe of the century, he added.
The top Iranian diplomat underlined that the Zionist regime is following the policy of destroying the “Palestinian nation and identity” by imposing a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip and preventing immediate and adequate humanitarian aid delivery, creating conditions of social and civil collapse and eliminating all traces of Palestinian life and identity as well as imposing forced migration on residents of Gaza and West Bank.
The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the Zionist regime's actions in separating the northern Gaza Strip from the south, starving people for forced migration from northern Gaza, planning for attacks on Rafah, preventing people from backing their residential areas in Gaza, preventing the access of UN aid agencies to all residents of this region, he highlighted.
Amir-Abdollahian noted that stopping further catastrophes is the immediate responsibility of international communities and bodies, especially the United Nations.
After the slaughter of more than 31,000 Palestinian civilians in recent months, the Israeli regime is seeking to massacre, gradual and painful mass killing of the remaining Gazans by preventing the immediate humanitarian aid and food supply to the Gaza Strip, he underscored.
Amir-Abdollahian said that the United Nations is expected to resort to Article 99 of the UN Charter and other mechanisms once again to stop the human tragedy of the contemporary century.
He reiterated the need to take effective measures to deter the occupying Israeli regime from any possible aggression in Quds and against Palestinian worshippers during the holy month of Ramadan.
