Iraqi preachers convene in Najaf ahead of holy Ramadan

The third annual gathering of Iraq’s preachers was held in the holy city of Najaf.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The third annual gathering of Iraq’s preachers was held in the holy city of Najaf.

The Holy Quran Scientific Assembly affiliated to the Astan of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine organized the convention ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

It was part of a special Quranic plan for seminarians, held earlier this week with the motto ‘Yuballiqoon’ (they propagate), al-Kafeel website reported.

A number of speakers addressed the gathering, including seminary scholars Sayyid Hassan al-Hakim and Sayyid Tu’ma al-Jabiri.

Al-Hakim in his speech referred to the spiritual and moral needs of the society and the ideological problems that people, especially the youth, are facing, calling for efforts to find solutions from the Quran and the Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

Al-Jabiri, meanwhile, discussed the role of preachers in safeguarding the society and the role of Shia sources of emulation in the era of occultation.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.

This year, the holy month is likely to begin on Tuesday, March 12.

In Ramadan, seminarians are sent to different cities and villages to preach and promote Islamic teachings.
