AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Awqaf ministry of Egypt plans to launch a convoy of Quran reciters for the holy month of Ramadan.
The convoy will be formed by the Awqaf Department of Alexandria Governorate, Rawz al-Yusuf website reported.
The qaris will visit different mosques in the governorate on the nights of Ramadan and hold Quran recitation circles.
They will also recite the Quran in mosques during Friday prayers in the holy month.
The move is part of efforts by the Awqaf ministry aimed at promoting Quranic activities in the month of fasting.
Meanwhile, deputy Awqaf Minister Sheikh Salamah visited a number of mosques during the morning prayers to make sure they have been cleaned and are ready to host worshippers in Ramadan.
All mosques in the country have been instructed to conduct cleaning and dusting as the holy month approaches.
Ramadan (which is likely to start on March 12 this year) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.
The Quran was revealed to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) heart in this month.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.
They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.
