AhlulBayt News Agency: A Quran competition for school students was held in the Serbian capital of Belgrade.
The Islamic Society of Serbia organized the competition in cooperation with the Libyan embassy in the European country, according to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).
More than 40 Muslim students residing in Belgrade took part in the contest, held on memorization of the Holy Quran.
The Bajrakli Mosque in Belgrade hosted the Quranic event, which was attended by representatives from a number of Islamic countries.
A committee comprising Quran memorizers, recitation experts and scholars from Libya, Turkey and Egypt assessed the performances of the contenders and selected the top ones.
In an address during the event, Head of the Islamic Society of Serbia Muhammad Yusuf Sepahic highlighted they situation in the Gaza Strip and underlined the need for Muslim unity in support of Palestine and Gaza.
On the sidelines of the contest, Iranian Cultural Attaché in Serbia Amir Pourpezeshk held talks with Sepahic and other Serbian Muslim officials on promotion of cultural cooperation.
