AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Abuja, Nigeria, has organized a fantabulous ceremony to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution led by Imam Khomeini in 1979.
Ambassadors and representatives of many countries gathered on Thursday at the Iranian Embassy in Abuja where they rejoiced with the Iranian diplomats and other dignitaries on the important occasion.
Among the countries that their ambassadors and representatives participated in the event were the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Korea, India, China, Bangladesh, Russia, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Malaysia and many more.
Azizollah Miryousefi, Head of Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nigeria, said in the ceremony:"Today, we gather here to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution and celebrate the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Islamic Revolution in 1979 shook the world's power structure and challenged the dominance of global powers. It demonstrated that it is possible to resist oppression and assert one's sovereignty."
He further said that Iran's foreign policy, based on the principles and values of the Islamic Revolution, has consistently advocated peace, justice, rationality, independence, and the rejection of discrimination, aggression, intervention, and foreign domination in the international arena.
"Iran has stood by the oppressed peoples of the world, including those in Palestine and Gaza, and believes that the only solution to the Palestinian issue is a democratic referendum among the original inhabitants of the land," he added.
In her remarkable statement during the celebration, Ambassador Janet Olisa, Director-General, Regions, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria expressed a congratulatory message of the Nigerian Government to the Iranian nation on the auspicious day.
"On behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on behalf of my minister, his Excellency Yusuf Tugga, we are here to express happiness and pleased that you have reached this landmark, a victory for all of Iranians."
The Nigerian official also said: "Nigeria and Tehran relationship started far back as 1976 and as far back then, Nigeria was young as we were growing in our democracy, and also having our own tabulate time, Iran has always been a steady partner over the years, and we have always acknowledged and appreciated the role and friendship that you have always extended to us."
Ambassador Janet Olisa also in the speech gave a hint that Nigeria and Iran will expand their partnership in science and technology and investment that will benefit both countries.
