Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami, Tehran’s Friday Prayers Imam says the Qajar and Pahlavi regimes in Iran prior to the victory of the Islamic Revolution were protected and nurtured by foreign powers.
Ayatollah Khatami reminded that the Pahlavis were brought by the British and the Americans took them away, and Iran became independent only after the Islamic revolution.
“Today, we are proud that the most independent country in the world is the Islamic Republic”, he told during the Friday sermon.
He touched on 10-day Fajr celebrations that are underway across Iran to mark the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
He called 10-day Fajr special days adding that there was a ruler in Iran, who like Pharaohs (ancient Egyptian rulers), killed, imprisoned and exiled people and sold the country.
“The people of Tehran still haven't forgotten the bloodshed of 17 Shahrivar (an incident that took place on September 8, 1978, only about 6 months before the victory of the Islamic Revolution). God saved the Iranian nation from the evil of this pharaoh”, Ayatollah Khatami recalled.
The Friday prayer leader underscored that the victory is with those who resist hard and said it is God’s blessings that the people are marking the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution.
