As many as 38 television and radio networks from different countries are expected to cover the final stage of Iran’s 40th International Holy Quran Competition.

AhlulBayt News Agency: As many as 38 television and radio networks from different countries are expected to cover the final stage of Iran’s 40th International Holy Quran Competition.

This was announced at a press conference held in Tehran on Wednesday with the participation of a number of Quranic officials.

They included Abbas Salimi who heads the head of the contest’s policy-making council, Hojat-ol-Islam Gholam Reza Adel, the cultural and social deputy of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, and Hamid Majidimehr, the head of the organization’s Quranic Affairs Center.

Majidimehr said the final round of the prestigious Quranic event will kick off on Thursday, February 15, on the eve of the birth anniversary of Imam Sajjad (AS) and the closing ceremony will be held on Wednesday, February 21, during the Sha’abaniyah festivities.

“One Book, One Ummah, Book of Resistance” is the motto of this year’s edition, the official noted.

He said 38 TV and radio networks have voiced their readiness to cover the final stage and there are plans for a Hebrew-language radio station to also broadcast the competition’s events for Hebrew-speaking listeners.

Salimi in his remarks hailed having the competition coincide with the celebrations marking the 45th anniversary of the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

He said efforts should be made to use this as an opportunity to promote the brilliant image of the Quran, Islam, Shia Islam, the school of Imam Khomeini (RA) and the Islamic Revolution.

Hojat-ol-Islam Adel, meanwhile, highlighted the record number of countries taking part in Iran’s international Quranic event.

The International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran is an annual event that attracts Quran reciters and memorizers from different parts of the world.

It aims to promote the Quranic culture and values, as well as to foster friendship and cooperation among Muslim countries.

The 40th edition of the contest consists of the following categories: Quran recitation (for men) and Quran memorization and Tateel recitation (for men and women).

The preliminary round of the competition began in late December, when a panel of judges evaluated the recorded performances of 138 participants from 64 countries.
