AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The commemoration ceremony of Late Grand Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani was held in the shrine of Hazrat Seyyed al-Shohada (PBUH) In Karbala.
Simultaneously with the second anniversary of the demise of Late Grand Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani, a grand ceremony was held with the presence of the scholars of Najaf and Karbala and different sections of the Iraqi people in the Hall of the Prophets (PBUH) located in the Holy Shrine of Imam Hossein in Karbala, Iraq (PBUH).
In this ceremony, the speakers and some personalities of Iraq gave a speech about that deceased Shia source of emulation.
At the beginning, Dr. Hassan Al-Bayichi, Custodian of Imam Hossain Shrine, in a speech welcomed the participants and the house of that divine world and honored the scientific and moral position of Grand Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani and said,” honoring the religious scholars, is same as honoring Imamate and religion, and all of us in any position are obliged to hold various conferences about the personalities of the scholars and their works; this ceremony was organized with this purpose by the Hujjat al-Islam Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalai, the Shariah custodian of Imam Hossein Shrine. We consider such meetings as our duties.”
In another part of the conference Hojjat al-Islam Mousavi, one of the professors of Najaf and Karbala seminaries, spoke about the characteristics of active and effective scholars during the time of Imam Zaman’s disappearance.
He said,” piety, disregard for worldly luxuries and efforts to acquire knowledge of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) were among the characteristics of Late Grand Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani, which made him an influential figure in the Islamic world.”
The professor of the Iraqi seminary added, "Today, wherever a work or a gathering about Mahdism is held, the name of the precious work "Muntakhab al-Athar fi al-Imam al-Thani Ashar" authored by Late Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani is regarded as the standard and the most prestigious Mahdavi work and this is the reason for the scientific efforts of that noble scholar in this matter.”
