AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): An Iranian seminary scholar stresses the “inexhaustible” nature of the Holy Quran in the field of research.
This is according to Ayatollah Mohammad Javad Fazel Lankarani who made the remarks while addressing a host of seminary teachers in Mashhad, northeast Iran, on Saturday.
“The main source of our religion is the Quran,” he stressed, adding, “This extensive body of knowledge is inexhaustible and can be researched continuously until the end of time.”
“It's not possible to claim that everything about science has been said because, upon careful examination, we realize that for example in the case of Fiqh (jurisprudence), which is a legacy from our predecessors, perhaps only one-twentieth of that has been explained to us,” he said.
Scientific communities should pay significant attention to the “boundless” resource of the Holy Quran which is intertwined with revelation and God Almighty, he added.
“The Quran provides ample room for exploration, and even if research continues until the Day of Judgment, it will never be fully exhausted,” highlighted the senior cleric.
All scientific endeavors should revolve around the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet and Ahl al-Bayt (SA), making this connection tangible for researchers, he said.
In seminary scientific groups, one cannot dismiss the relevance of the Quran by stating it is unnecessary in certain contexts, Lankarani said, adding, “The Quran is a comprehensive book that pertains to all fields of knowledge. We must revive its significance in our studies and lift it from neglect.”
