AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has said that Nicaragua's position on international issues, including Zionist crimes against Palestinians in Gaza, is humanitarian and aimed at promoting justice.
“If other countries had had such a stance as well, the Zionist regime and its supporters would not have dared to commit crimes against the oppressed and powerful Palestinian nation,” Raisi said on Sunday as he met with the new Nicaraguan ambassador to Tehran to receive his credentials.
President Raisi stressed the need for fully implementing agreements reached during his last year trip to Nicaragua, saying that the new ambassador, Ramón Alberto Moncada Colindres, and other officials in both countries are required to make necessary efforts in that regard.
The ambassador, for his part, said that Iran and Nicaragua are on the path of deepening and strengthening their ties in various fields.
He also said that the government and people of Nicaragua express their solidarity with the Iranian people and government over the recent terrorist attack in Kerman.
The attacks in Iran’s southeastern city took place on January 3, on the anniversary of the assassination of the country’s anti-terror icon Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who was martyred in a US drone strike in Iraq in 2020.
Two explosions ripped through a route leading to the top general’s resting place as people had gathered for his martyrdom anniversary. Around 100 people were confirmed dead in the blasts which were claimed by the Daesh terror group. The attacks also drew widespread condemnation from across the world.
