AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has described relations between Iran and Pakistan as deep and historical, highlighting Tehran’s readiness to expand its ties with Islamabad as much as possible.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Pakistan’s interim Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos in Switzerland on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the Iranian foreign minister expressed satisfaction with the growing bilateral ties, saying the two countries’ leaders strive to increase to the volume of bilateral trade from $2.5 billion to $5 billion.
Appreciating Pakistan’s expression of sympathy with Iran over a deadly terrorist attack in the southern city of Kerman earlier this month, Amirabdollahian said fighting terrorism is one of the most important sources of concern for both countries.
He also touched on the situation in Gaza, calling for an immediate end to the Zionist regime’s war on the besieged territory, warning that although the Americans think they can manage the situation as they wish, “during wartime anything could happen.”
Kakar, for his part, underscored the importance of Tehran-Islamabad relations and expressed his country’s desire to strengthen its ties with Iran.
He also said the two Islamic republics are facing common challenges such as terrorism, calling for joint efforts and cooperation to limit such perils.
