AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Thousands of Germans hit the streets of the capital Berlin on Tuesday night to express their anger at their government’s stance on the Zionist regime’s crimes against the oppressed and defenseless Palestinians of the Gaza Strip.
According to Deutsche Welle, thousands of residents in Berlin thronged the streets in solidarity with Palestinians and denounced their government’s support for barbaric attacks by the Israeli regime.
The rally came just days after the German government announced its official position in support of the Zionist regime at the International Court of Justice, ignoring the massacre of innocent Palestinians in Gaza.
"No to genocide in Gaza" and "All together against fascism", were some of the slogans demonstrators chanted while lighting candles in memory of Gaza martyrs.
The German capital has witnessed several rallies against Israel's ongoing attacks on Gaza, which have killed more than 24,000 people and left the coastal territory in ruins.
In an earlier protest, Germans decried their leaders and chanted slogans such as "Shame on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz," and "Shame on (Foreign Minister) Annalena Baerbock."
Despite the growing public anger, the German government is planning to send weapons to the Zionist regime.
Der Spiegel newspaper has cited sources as saying that the German government is considering sending artillery ammunition.
The preliminary approval of artillery ammunition to the Zionist regime has been made by the relevant departments of Germany’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense, the sources quoted by Spiegel.
Chancellor Scholz has repeatedly said that Israel’s security is non-negotiable, and in the current conflict with Hamas, Germany “has only one place,” and that is “firmly at the side of Israel."
But a recent poll revealed that the German government’s pro-Israel stance is not supported by the public.
