AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) described Gaza as a symbol of confrontation between the truth and falsehood.
Addressing an international conference on Gaza here in Tehran, Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari added that any negligence and silence on the issue of Palestine and Gaza today is a clear injustice to common human aspirations.
Organized by the WFPIST, the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood and Awakening of Human Conscience’ conference opened at the Esteghlal Hotel in the Iranian capital on Sunday in solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip, who have been under relentless Israeli attacks for 100 days.
More than 100 Muslim world figures, scholars and thinkers attending the conference will elaborate on the Jihad of the people of the Gaza Strip and the outcomes of the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation, which the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement launched against the Zionist regime on October 7, 2023.
In his speech, Hojat-ol-Islam Shahriari welcomed the participants and said the conference aims to discuss regional and international developments and the moves by the Zionist regime and its allies that have killed innocent women and children and displaced hundreds of thousands.
He referred to Verses 39-40 of Surah Hajj, “Permission to take up arms is hereby granted to those who are attacked; they have suffered injustice. God has all the power to give victory to those who were unjustly expelled from their homes only because they said, "God is our Lord." Had it not been for God's repelling some people through the might of the others, the monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which God is very often worshipped would have been utterly destroyed. God shall certainly help those who help Him. He is All-powerful and Majestic,” and said the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation was a decisive and legitimate response to occupation and the racist policies of the Zionist regime.
He added that the issue of Palestine and the holy city of al-Quds is a uniting factor in the Muslim world.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he underlined the need for an immediate end to the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on Gaza and its raids on areas in occupied territories.
The WFPIST chief also deplored the inaction of the UN Security Council and its failure to safeguard world peace and security and stop the Zionist regime’s crimes against Palestine.
He further condemned the United States for supporting the Israeli regime’s atrocities and preventing a ceasefire in Gaza.
The cleric also hailed the Yemeni government and armed forces for their moves against the Israeli regime and appreciated South Africa for filing a case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
The Zionist regime’s war on Gaza that began on October 7, 2023, has killed more than 23,800 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and wounded over 60,000 others.
