Iran urges protecting journalists in Gaza under int’l humanitarian law

The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva has said that journalists in Gaza must be protected under international humanitarian law.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva has said that journalists in Gaza must be protected under international humanitarian law.

Reacting to the killing of journalists in Gaza by the Zionist regime, the mission wrote on its page on the X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday that “Targeted killing of journalists and media workers by the Israeli regime is appalling and unprecedented.”

It added “79 in just 3 months of war on Gaza, Journalists in Gaza are the eyes and ears of the International community for the truth & justice, they must be protected under International humanitarian law.”

Previously, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate announced that the attacks on journalists were the official decision of the Israeli cabinet and with the direct command of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to the latest figures, nearly 110 journalists have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip since the Israeli regime launched its military aggression against the territory on October 7.

The regime's genocide in Gaza has so far killed more than 23,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, while leaving nearly 59,000 injured.
