AhlulBayt News Agency: The Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine plans to organize a cultural festival in the Indian city of Mumbai.
It is scheduled to be held on January 23-25, on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS), said Aqil al-Yaseri, who is in charge of the Astan’s cultural and ideological affairs department.
He said the festival is organized in a different part of India every year, al-Kafeel website reported.
The Mukal Mosque in Mumbai will host the cultural event this year, he noted.
With the motto of “Amir al-Mumineen (AS), the Harun of Imamate and Witness on Resurrection Day”, the festival aims to promote the culture and teachings of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
According to al-Yaseri, the festival includes a book fair, Quran recitation sessions to be attended by eminent qaris, religious sermons by prominent orators from Iraq and India, as well as a cultural contest.
He said winners of the contest will be awarded a ten-day pilgrimage trip to holy cities in Iraq.

Imam Ali (AS) was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s highly revered son-in-law and cousin as well as the first Imam in Shia Islam.
The Imam is respected for his courage, knowledge, belief, honesty, unbending devotion to Islam, deep loyalty to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), equal treatment of all Muslims and generosity in forgiving his defeated enemies.
