Ahlulbayt News Agency: The final stage of the 42nd edition of the Quran competition of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) was launched in Iran’s northeastern holy city of Mashhad on Thursday.
IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami addressing the opening ceremony, describing the IRCG as the earthly portrayal of many divine verses.
He said the Holy Quran invites all, including IRGC members, to act upon its teachings.
He added that the IRGC personnel should reflect the verses of the Holy Quran in their conduct.
The IRGC seeks to promote Islamic faith, belief and culture in the world, he went on to say.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the IRGC chief referred to the Zionist regime’s war on Gaza and said the Zionists will be defeated with the grace of God.
Referring to verses from Surah Al-Hashr of the Holy Quran, Majaor General Salami said terror has been cast in the hearts of the Zionists, whose leaders have no prudence.
More than 10,000 IRGC personnel and conscripts took part in the preliminary stage of the IRGC’s 42nd Quran competition. 287 of whom have made it to the final round.
The competition will run through Saturday, December 23.
