Volunteers of Blackburn Mosque in England wash cars to raise money for Gaza

A charity event was held in Blackburn, England, to raise money for the oppressed people of Gaza.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A charity event was held in Blackburn, England, to raise money for the oppressed people of Gaza.

Volunteers braved sub-zero temperatures to wash dozens of cars in aid of the Gaza emergency appeal.

The charity event was organized by the team at the Jamia Ghosia Mosque in Chester Street, Blackburn.

Queues of cars could be seen lining up in the car park throughout Sunday.

Families and friends of the volunteers provided hot drinks and snacks throughout the day.

The car wash was one of a number of events and activities taking place at the mosque over the weekend.

On Friday, the teams from Whalley Range joined forces with Audley Range to sell two hundred boxes of biryani at £5 a portion.

The eventual fundraising total reached more than £13,100 with £6,748 collected from the car wash and £6,409.24 collected from the food sales, said organizers.

The money will be donated to support humanitarian efforts in the Gaza strip, where thousands of citizens have been displaced due to the ongoing Israeli aggression.

A mosque spokesperson said: “Thank you to all who donated generously and to all the volunteers who participated in this appeal. They worked tirelessly throughout, what was a very cold day.

“It was a wonderful to see so many people come out to support the cause.

“We have got some bigger events planned over the coming year as part of our #vision2025 initiative."

People in the Gaza Strip have been facing severe conditions since the Zionist regime launched its aggression against the Palestinian coastal enclave on October 7.

The total number of people killed in the Israeli war on Gaza has surpassed 15,500,

More than 6,600 of those martyred are children and some 4,300 of them are women.

Also, over 41,500 Gazans have been injured in the onslaughts and 7,500 are missing.
