Algeria Muslims, Christians hold joint prayer in support of Palestine

A joint prayer of Muslims and Christians was held in a church in Algeria’s capital to express support for the people of Gaza.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A joint prayer of Muslims and Christians was held in a church in Algeria’s capital to express support for the people of Gaza.

The Notre Dame d'Afrique (Our Lady of Africa), a Catholic Basilica in Algiers, hosted the event.

A number of Muslims and Christians took part in the program to pray for peace in the Middle East and an end to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

It was also a show of strong unity among the followers of the two faiths in the North African country.

Some 200 people, including foreign diplomats and representatives of associations and societies attended the prayer.

They included the ambassador of Palestine to Algeria, Faez Muhammad Mahmoud Abu Aita, as well as the ambassador of France.

According to Bishop Jean-Paul VESCO, the archbishop of Algiers, by hosting the event, the church sought to bring people together in prayer for an end to the war in Gaza.

The Gaza Strip has been a scene of carnage since the Israeli regime began its attacks on the besieged coastal enclave on October 7.

More than 15,500 Palestinians, mostly children and women, have been killed in the Zionist regime’s strikes in Gaza.

The Tel Aviv regime’s military has also widened its ground offensive in southern Gaza as Palestinian officials say more than 800 people have been killed since Saturday.
