AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A senior Bahraini cleric underlined the need for a joint statement from the country’s Shia and Sunni scholars on Muslim unity.
In sermon delivered at the Imam Sadiq (AS) Mosque in al-Ghaful area, Sayed Abdullah Al-Ghuraifi said Muslim scholar must reiterate the importance of unity among Shia and Sunni Muslims in Bahrain, the Bahrain Mirror website reported.
He added that a joint statement on unity from Shia and Sunni scholars would send a message to those who have pinned their hopes on differences, disunity and discord.
“If a tragedy like the one in Gaza does not unite us, if the blood of women and children does not unite us, if the voices of prisoners do not unite us, if the cries of the wounded do not unite us, if the Zionists’ brutal crimes and murders (in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank) do not unite us, if the support from major powers for the Zionists do not unite us in support of the oppressed (Palestinian) people who struggle for defending their honor, dignity and integrity and for defending their land, then what could unite us,” the cleric added.
Back in August, Bahrain’s top Shia cleric Sheikh Isa Qassim highlighted the unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims in the country.
“Indeed, the brotherly bond between Sunnis and Shias in Bahrain is very strong, and the two have coexisted for a long time and enjoy religious and family ties,” he said.
