AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): At the request of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, the BRICS group of emerging economies is set to hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss the Israeli war of aggression against the Gaza Strip.
In response to escalating tensions in the West Asia region, BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) will hold a special session on Tuesday via video conference with a focus on the war in Gaza.
South Africa will host the meeting as the rotating BRICS presidency.
During the session, the leaders of BRICS and BRICS Plus members are expected to articulate their positions on the need to support the oppressed people of Gaza and call for an end to Israeli atrocities.
Iran’s membership in BRICS was accepted in August 2023 and will officially become a full member as of January 1, 2024.
