AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A young Thai woman has embraced Islam at the shrine of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Imam of the Shia Muslims, in Mashhad, Iran.
She pronounced the Shahada, the declaration of faith in Allah and His Messenger (PBUH), at the Deputy Office for International Pilgrims Affairs of the shrine, the shrine’s press service reported on Saturday.
The woman, whose name has not been revealed, said that she was raised as a Buddhist, but she began to search for the truth about religion when she was 12 years old. She said that she did not have a proper teacher to guide her, but she gradually learned about Shia Islam and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), the family of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
She said that she received a supplication book from a Shia cleric, which contained many texts related to Imam Reza (AS). She said that she decided to recite Imam Reza's supplication and Imam Mahdi's (may God hasten his advent) supplication after every daily prayer.
She said that she felt a strong bond with Imam Reza (AS), who is buried in Mashhad. She said that she visited his shrine and talked to him.
She said that she sometimes cried for no reason when she thought of him. She said that she wanted to be close to him and feel the love of the Ahl al-Bayt in her heart.
