AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A Qatari charity institute is working on renovation and equipping 20 Quran memorization centers in Bangladesh.
The Qatar Charity (QC) is implementing the renovation projects in cooperation with benevolent people in the South Asian country, Al-Sharq daily reported.
The centers are in cities like Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Kishoreganj, Gazipur, and Cumilla.
Some 2,000 male and female students will take the courses at the centers once the renovation work is completed.
People and local officials have hailed the initiative as praiseworthy.
People want their children to learn the Quran and renovating and equipping Quran memorization centers will help remove some of the problems on this path, a local official said.
Over the past five years, the Qatar Charity has also built nearly 50 boarding schools for Bangladeshi students and provided financial support to more than 3,300 orphans in the country.
The Qatar Charity is a humanitarian and development non-governmental organization that was founded in 1992.
Bangladesh is a Muslim majority country in South Asia. Some 160 million Muslims live in Bangladesh, which is the fourth largest Muslim population in the world (after Indonesia, Pakistan and India).
