AhlulBayt News Agency: Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society called on the United Nations to put the crimes committed by Israel against humanity during its ongoing aggression on Gaza and its consequences under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, otherwise it will be deemed a complicit. It also urged the UN to display these crimes before the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice.
In a letter to the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, Al-Wefaq provided a brief report on the situation in Gaza and the relevant laws violated by Israel under the Fourth Geneva Conventions and Additional Protocols.
The society documented the number of victims of the aggression, the martyrs and wounded, the forced displacement it [Israel] caused to 1.5 million people from Gaza Strip, and the number of housing units, schools, mosques, churches destroyed by Israel in Gaza, as well as the multiple sites supervised by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the health care centers, hospitals, markets and infrastructure.
The letter documented Israel's use of illegal weapons against civilians such as white phosphorus munitions, and the occupation's targeting of reporters, emergency services and camps of displaced.
Al-Wefaq listed 19 articles of the Fourth Geneva Conventions and the Additional Protocols violated by Israel in its aggression on Gaza Strip. It pointed out that the documented massacre and the inhumane policies followed by Israel have sparked sadness and anger around the world, as observers warn of the outbreak of a large-scale regional conflict.
