AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Amir Saeed Iravani, Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has never engaged in any action or attack against US forces in Syria and Iraq.
The statements made by Iran's representative at the United Nations were in response to a letter written by the United States to the Security Council, accusing Iran of operating against its forces in Syria and Iraq.
In a letter addressed to Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations and President of the Security Council, Amir Saeed Iravani expressed his view that the United States is attempting to legitimize its illegal military actions in Syria, which he believes is a misinterpretation of Article 51 of the U.N. Charter.
He further added that these baseless claims are aimed at justifying the continuous violation of international laws and the United Nations Charter by the United States in Syria.
Iran's Ambassador to the U.N. emphasized that according to international laws, an occupying country does not have the right to invoke self-defense as a justification for its illegal actions.
Iravani also highlighted that the Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations has repeatedly voiced strong opposition to the ongoing illegal presence of American military forces in Syria, considering it a violation of international laws and a disregard for national sovereignty, territorial integrity, unity, and independence.
The Syrian representative has also called on the United States to end its occupation of Syria.
Iran's diplomat called for the withdrawal of US troops from Syria and stated that Iran's presence in Syria is completely legal and based on an official request from the Syrian government.
