Bahraini Shia cleric: When Israel is part of war, its supporters ignore its crimes

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Friday preacher at the Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Bahrain's Diraz, located west of the capital Manama, Sheikh Mohammad Sanqour, stressed that "when Israel is the party to war, the influential countries find that it's not harmful to commit war crimes, where the other side is children, women," pointing out that "the one who occupies the land of Palestine and kills its children is Israel and its supporters." He underlined that it is not right statement to say that one supports the Palestinian people but does not support the resistance.

In a Friday sermon he delivered on October 27, 2023, Sheikh Sanqour pointed out that "the target of conventional wars in various parts of the world primarily from both sides of the war is the fighter, his weapons, equipment and sources of his military capabilities. Both sides of the war should avoid civilians and civilian targets such as residential neighborhoods, schools, hospitals, and basic needs such as water and food."

He explained that when one of the parties target any of these, it expresses regret and makes an effort to prove that this was done by mistake and unintentionally, and yet the world raises and describes what it committed as an unforgivable and unjustifiable war crime. However, this happens when Israel is not a party in the war.

"But when Israel is the party in the war, there is no harm in the other side being children, women and civilians, and there is no harm in it targeting mosques, churches, markets and hospitals, schools and residential complexes with various forbidden weapons, and it is okay for them to cut off water, food and medicine, and have the right to exterminate, eradicate, abuse, destroy and displace. It is allowed to target the blood, land, money and honor of any adversary of Israel".

Sheikh Sanqour stated that "this is the doctrine on which the rogue state of Israel was built. It was established over the skulls of innocent people and bodies of children and women with the open support of influential states. Israel has been committing war crimes for seven decades with their weapons, building its economy with their money, imposing its existence and agenda based on their influence and power, and not fearing accountability or punishment because whoever can impose punishment is the one who empowered it and gave it the absolute right to do whatever it wants with whomever it likes."

He highlighted that it is not surprising to see these influential countries not ashamed to talk about human rights, children's rights and women's rights, while they unequivocally declare their unlimited support for the usurping entity of Israel and openly provide it with lethal weapons to kill Palestinian children and women.

He noted that "these countries talk about the right of those whose land was usurped to resist and struggle and that they have the right to use force to liberate their land and then describe the Palestinian resistance men as 'terrorists' and deal with them as terrorists, while they give the usurper and the occupier the right to fight them and annihilate them by various dirty means."

He went on to say: "It is not only limited to this level of audacity, as they were not satisfied with that, but they gave the usurper and the occupier the right to exterminate the owners of the land, no matter if they were children, women and civilians who have nothing to do with the resistance. They say we support Israel in its war against armed factions, and the international law and humanitarian and rational standards recognizes the legitimacy of resistance to the occupier by force of arms."

Sheikh Sanqour drew attention to the fact that "Israel does not fight the resistance, but fights children, destroys buildings, mosques, schools, hospitals, and homes over the heads of civilians, and openly commits massacre after another against innocent and defenseless people," adding that "thousands of those whom the war machine has mistaken [as targets] have become homeless, wandering about without finding refuge, waiting at every moment for the same fate that scattered the remains of their brothers and relatives." What right is this that the false West supports the usurper occupier to have, he wondered.

He went on to say that "it has become clear to everyone that who occupies Palestine is not only the entity of Israel, but Israel and its supporters, and those who kill the children of Palestine are both Israel and its supporters, those who destroy mosques, churches, schools and hospitals are both Israel and its supporters, and those who besiege the people of Gaza and deprive them of water and medicine are both Israel and its supporters, and those who build settlements atop the ruins of homes and farms, bring Jews from all over the world to reside there are both Israel and its supporters, and those who work to forcibly displace the owners of the land from their homeland are both Israel and its supporters."

Sheikh Sanqour further called on "the Islamic nation and people of conscience of different races and ethnicities" to "stand in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and their resistance in liberating their land and defending their right to sovereignty over it, as well as their right to expel the occupier from it, the right of those who were displaced 7 decades ago to return to their land, and the right to prosecute the aggressors for the crimes and atrocities they committed on their land."

He warned that "it is not correct to say that we support the Palestinian people and do not support the resistance," stressing that "the resistance comes from the heart of the Palestinian people, and their resistance to the occupier is a legitimate right approved by religions, humanitarian and rational standards and international norms."

Sheikh Sanqour asserted that "whether they are supported or denied their right, God Almighty will fulfill his promise to destroy the criminals and achieve victory for his faithful servants."
