South Africa calls for deploying international force to protect civilians in Gaza

South Africa on Monday urged the UN to swiftly deploy a force to safeguard civilians in Gaza from further Israeli occupation entity aggression, which has resulted in the killing of more than 8,300 Palestinians since October 7.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): South Africa on Monday urged the UN to swiftly deploy a force to safeguard civilians in Gaza from further Israeli occupation entity aggression, which has resulted in the killing of more than 8,300 Palestinians since October 7.

South Africa has long advocated peace in the Middle East, likening the plight of the Palestinians, which they have been experiencing for decades, to what South Africa witnessed under the apartheid regime that ended in 1994.

Media sources said that by calling for the formation of a protection force, South Africa’s support for the Palestinians exceeds that of most countries, some of which called for a ceasefire or the opening of a humanitarian corridor to allow aid to enter besieged Gaza, where the occupation has continued its bombing for 24 days.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation has intensified its siege and bombing of Gaza since Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” launched by the resistance against the occupation in response to its repeated attacks against Palestinians and Islamic holy sites, which left more than 1,500 dead among the Israeli army.

“Entire generations of families have been wiped out in Gaza over the past three weeks,” South Africa’s foreign ministry said in a statement.

The statement also stated that 25 members of the family of a member of the Palestinian community in Johannesburg were martyred in an Israeli air strike on Monday morning, while family members of a senior Palestinian diplomat were killed in South Africa in their residential building the day before.
