Iran, Vatican FMs discusses Gaza situation

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has reviewed the latest situation in the Gaza Strip with his counterpart from Vatican.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has reviewed the latest situation in the Gaza Strip with his counterpart from Vatican.

During a telephone conversation with the Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher on Monday, Amirabdollahian said that the Palestinian crisis must be resolved fundamentally, and its political solution is to hold a referendum in cooperation with the United Nations between all the original inhabitants of Palestine, including Christian, Jewish and Muslim.

Pointing to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, he thanked the responsible positions of the Vatican Secretary of State, as well as the Pope and stressed the need for its continuity.

The top Iranian diplomat said that there are two paths ahead in the issues of Palestine, one is to seek a political solution, which we are still trying and consulting in this direction, and the other is the continuation of the war and the possibility of expanding its scope.

Archbishop Gallagher expressed serious concern about what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories while reiterating the absolute necessity to avoid escalating the conflict and to achieve a solution for a stable and lasting peace in the region.
