AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The bishop of the Assyrian-Catholic Church in Iran has criticized Christian countries for their inaction over the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, urging them to take practical measures to prevent human catastrophe in the besieged enclave.
Speaking with IRNA’s correspondence publoished on Saturday, Vanya Sargiz said Christian countries around the world should close their borders to the Zionist regime and threaten them if Israeli planes enter Gaza.
“While the great Pope is the leader of the world’s Catholics and has billions of followers..., he said he expected both sides to lay down their weapons when he could have taken more serious actions and condemned this crime,” he said.
The Pope could have said that “Israel’s crimes are genocide and war crime, rather than saying both sides must lay down their weapons,” he added.
The senior Iranian bishop further called for firm actions to condemn the Zionist regime’s atrocities against Palestinians, lamenting that most governments around the world support the regime.
He said that in European and Christian countries, it was the people who marched in favor of Palestine rather than their statesmen.
“Unfortunately, the heads of these countries are looking to sell weapons and create schism in West Asia,” he added.
The Zionist regime launched the devastating war on Gaza on October 7, after the Gaza-based Palestinian resistance movement Hamas launched a surprise raid into the occupied territories in response to intensified Israeli crimes against Palestinians.
The death toll in Gaza since the onset of the Israeli aggression has reached 7,326, including 3,038 children.
