AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharrazi has warned about the power of resistance movements, arguing that Palestinian resistance groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad are ready to continue the ongoing war against the Israeli regime.
Kharrazi told Al-Alam news network cited by the IRNA on Saturday that the present power of Palestinian resistance movements, namely Hamas and Islamic Jihad, cannot be compared to their capabilities in five or ten years ago, which indicates that the resistance is thriving; so, the Zionist regime cannot eliminate the resistance movements.
He noted that although the regime said it plans to enter the Gaza Strip, it is highly doubtful; because the US and other Western states as well as former Israeli commanders are well aware that the military aggression into Gaza will end up in a quagmire.
He went on to say that the regime will face guerrilla warfare, which would be long-term and continuous, the same way that the US experienced in Vietnam; so, the Gaza conflict is similar to the Vietnam war. Washington should force the Israeli regime to stop committing criminal acts, because the current trend can lead to the spill-over of the war, Kharrazi underscored.
If the Zionists think that they would be able to demolish the Palestinian resistance through a ground operation, they must know that this is impossible; because the resistance is an underground movement, while the Israeli troops cannot confront underground fighters on the ground; however, the Tel Aviv regime intends to continue the ongoing war, and they should know that resistance fighters are ready to continue the fight, he said.
According to the former foreign minister, all resistance fighters are fully prepared to get involved into a war with the Israeli regime in support of the Palestinian people, as well as Iranian forces and officials have also underlined if the war expands, the Islamic resistance will be forced to engage into the conflict.
Therefore, other players should help the regime, which suffered a strategic blow, realize that the continuation of the confrontation will not be beneficial for the Israelis, and they must halt committing crimes against the Palestinians, he cautioned.
Furthermore, the public opinion in Muslim nations is annoyed and as a result their governments have no choice but to align themselves with their people, he said, adding that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation issued a robust statement in support of Palestine.
