AhlulBayt News Agency: The number of the countries expected to take part in the upcoming edition of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition is more than 90, an official said.
Hamid Majidimehr, who heads the Quranic affairs center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, made the remark in a meeting to the committee to develop Quranic propagation and promotional activities.
The meeting was held earlier this week and chaired by Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili.
In his remarks at the session, Majidimehr said there are only two international Quran contests in the world with more than 80 countries participating and Iran’s is one of them.
He said that thanks to the cooperation from Al-Mustafa International University, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other bodies the record number of participants is expected to be achieved.
Such a record is not going to be broken in the foreseeable future, he stated.
The final stage of the 40th edition of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition is scheduled to be organized in early 2024.
The event is annually organized by Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of Quran reciters and memorizers from different countries.
The final round of the 39th edition was held in February 18, 2023, in Tehran.
The motto of this edition, like the previous one, was “One Book, One Ummah”, a testimony to the significance that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches to unity and fraternity among Muslim nations.
