Muslim states’ rulers urged to go beyond paying lip service to Palestine: Top cleric

The secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) called on officials of Muslim countries to support Palestine practically instead of paying lip service to it.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) called on officials of Muslim countries to support Palestine practically instead of paying lip service to it.

Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari made the remark in a webinar titled “Al-Aqsa Flood Operation; Beginning of End of Zionist Regime”, which was held Wednesday by the WFPIST.

He said the Muslim world is going through difficult times these days given what the oppressed people of Palestine are facing in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

He added that today, the values of Islam and those of the world arrogance are facing off in different parts of the world, including in Gaza.

The oppressed people of Gaza are confronting a child-murdering regime that has no mercy for civilians and is trying to keep usurping the land that does not belong to it through relentless killing and crimes.

Opposed to this extensive injustice being carried out by the world arrogance, Islam has underlined the value of justice, teaching us to pursue justice even if it is against us, he stated.

Hojat-ol-Islam Shahriari added that it is incumbent upon Muslims to help the oppressed and save them from oppression.

“Today we are in a historic turning point during which the oppressed will dominate the world and regain their rights,” he said.

The senior cleric added that today is the time for action not words.

“It is incumbent upon the rulers of Muslim countries to unite and rush to help Palestine in the field of action,” he stressed.

His remarks came as the Israeli regime continues its airstrikes on Gaza that began nearly three weeks ago.

The attacks have claimed the lives of over 6,000 Palestinians, including women and children, with more than 18,000 people injured.

The airstrikes follow a surprise operation dubbed Al-Aqsa Flood Operation launched by Hamas against Israel on October 7.

Hamas said the operation was carried out in response to the occupation regime’s atrocities in occupied territories and its violations of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
