Thousands of university lecturers slam Israeli atrocities

Some 9,200 Iranian university lecturers have slammed the Israeli atrocities in the besieged Gaza Strip.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Some 9,200 Iranian university lecturers have slammed the Israeli atrocities in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In a statement, signed by some 9,200 lecturers, the office of the Islamic Revolution Leader’s representation in universities has strongly slammed the Israeli crimes in Palestine.

Here is the full text of the statement:

In the Name of God of the Martyrs and the Truthful

The proud, honorable operation “Al-Aqsa Storm”, which was an independent and spontaneous action by the resistance groups and the Palestinian people in defense of their inherent rights and the great and historic attack on the presumptions of the Zionist regime, once again realized the divine words of Allah in Quran "أَوْهَنَالْبُیُوتِ لَبَیْتُ الْعَنْکَبُوت" as a definite belief, and while proving the false awe and fake power of this occupying regime, it has imposed an irreparable defeat on this occupying regime. No doubt, this action is a legitimate response from an oppressed nation in defense of its rights, and a nation's resistance to land usurpers and aggressors is the most inalienable right that is accepted by all honorable and free humans with any religion and intellectual and ideological creed.

On the other hand, the cruel and horrendous deeds of the Zionist regime have always exposed the oppressed people of Palestine to murder, crime, and cruelty with apartheid policies during its several decades of usurping life. The sinister track record of this regime, from the beginning until now, is full of gross violations of the basic rights of Palestinians, killings, and desecration of holy places, and it upsets each and every free human. What is happening today in Gaza and the brutal attacks on residential houses, infrastructure facilities, mosques, schools, universities, hospitals, and relief forces and cutting off fuel, water, and electricity are clear examples of mass murder and crimes against humanity. What do these innocent children, oppressed women, and old innocent people want that makes them deserve to be dragged in blood to the ground in such a cowardly and brutal way? What have they done that they have to be victims of the inexhaustible greed and avarice of these wolves who falsely fantasize about dominating the world and having control over the Nile to the Euphrates? Is the understanding of the right to live of these defenseless people, the right to treat their deep pains and wounds, and the right to rest and live under the roof of their ancestral homes so difficult for the claimants of human rights that they cannot distinguish the bloodthirsty Israeli aggressors from the innocents under attack, who under the banner of human rights are either silent in this atrocious event or invite both sides to calm down and restrain from violence, or shed crocodile tears for the oppression of the Zionist aggressors and support them, and even in total impudence follow the project of transferring the Palestinian people out of their homeland, trying to change the population ratio of this land?

The recent developments in occupied Palestine show that the policy of appeasement and support for this usurping regime will not only help regional and international peace and security but it will also encourage this regime to ignore dozens of the UN resolutions, and hence continue with its racist policies and occupation and keep committing international crimes and gross violations of human rights while feigning innocence. Unfortunately, the passivity and inaction of the Western and Arab countries and international organizations, including the UN, against this widespread violation of international and humanitarian standards and laws in the occupied territories has made the Zionist regime more brazen in continuing its crimes against the Palestinian people. It is expected that organizations, assemblies, and institutions responsible for international and human rights fulfill their legal and humanitarian duties via leaving silence and inaction, fulfill the rights of the Palestinian nation and punish the occupiers, and refrain from participating in these undeniable crimes which is considered as a disgrace to human society, and thus with a decisive and effective reaction, while condemning the crimes of the Zionist regime, stop this regime from continuing these horrible deeds.

We, the professors of the Iranian universities, while paying tribute to the pure souls of the Palestinian martyrs, sympathize with them and put emphasis on their inherent and legal right to defend themselves against the brutalities and heinous crimes of the Israeli regime. Likewise, we emphasize the need for global determination and urgent action to stop the anti-human actions of this regime, and we believe that serenity and lasting peace in Palestine can only be established with the end of the occupation, the return of the refugees, the determination of the future system of Palestine based on a referendum with the presence of all Palestinians, and finally the formation of the unified Palestinian state with the capital of Al-Quds al-Sharif.

We also invite scholars, experts, and academics of the world, especially the professors of the Islamic world, to take common positions in condemning these horrible crimes, be the voice of these oppressed people in different fields, and not forget their intellectual responsibility in defending them and not allowing this regime to be the most brutal human disaster happen before their eyes.

Another important task is to pursue the punishment of the terrorist and brutal Zionist government. All conscious and scrupulous humans acknowledge that the widespread crime of killing Palestinian children and women in these few days should not go unpunished, and all the effective agents of the regime and the criminal Netanyahu should be prosecuted and punished by international and independent courts.

Today, the academia is under scrutiny, and the protest or non-standing of academics, scholars, and sociocultural activists against this cancerous tumor will be recorded in history. The world should know that the people of Gaza are not alone and Palestine has always been, is, and will be a member of the Islamic world.
