Pres. Raisi: There is no more hope for UN to play a role in maintaining world peace

Questioning the functioning of the UN Security Council, the President stated, “When the United States, by sending equipment and weapons to the Zionist Regime, participates in its crimes against the defenceless people of Gaza and prevents the issuance of a resolution condemning these crimes in the UN Security Council, there is no hope for this council to play a role in maintaining world peace”.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Questioning the functioning of the UN Security Council, the President stated, “When the United States, by sending equipment and weapons to the Zionist Regime, participates in its crimes against the defenceless people of Gaza and prevents the issuance of a resolution condemning these crimes in the UN Security Council, there is no hope for this council to play a role in maintaining world peace”.

Speaking in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Relations and International Cooperation of South Africa, Naledi Pandor, on Sunday afternoon, Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi appreciated the efforts and follow-ups of South Africa in the field of the membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the BRICS, and also described the sense of responsibility of the South African government and nation in supporting the Palestinian people and expressing hatred and disgust for the atrocities of the Zionist Regime valuable and worthy of appreciation”.

Referring to the crimes committed by the Zionists against the people, especially Palestinian women and children, the President described South Africa's position in preventing the observer membership of the Zionist Regime in the African Union as responsible.

Questioning the functioning of the UN Security Council, the President stated, “When the United States, by sending equipment and weapons to the Zionist Regime, participates in its crimes against the defenceless people of Gaza and prevents the issuance of a resolution condemning these crimes in the UN Security Council, there is no hope for this council to play a role in maintaining world peace”.

In this meeting, Ms Naledi Pandor, Minister of Foreign Relations and International Cooperation of South Africa, stated that Iran's membership in BRICS was a consensus of all member countries and emphasised that Iran can play an effective role in enhancing the position of BRICS and the joint efforts of countries for fair progress.

She added, “In the same framework, South Africa is also very interested in strengthening cooperation, especially in the economic field, with the Islamic Republic of Iran”.
