Senior Iranian cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Hassan Fazel Golpaygani, known as Ayatollah Zali, has died at the age of 75.
Ayatollah Zali died late on Friday due to heart disease.
He represented the constituency of Tehran province in the Assembly of Experts, a key government body in Iran which is mainly responsible for supervising and electing the country’s Supreme Leader.
Ayatollah Zali had also served in various government and seminary roles after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979.
