Malaysia will not bow to Western pressure to condemn Hamas: PM

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says he does not agree with Western pressure to condemn Palestinian resistance group Hamas.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says he does not agree with Western pressure to condemn Palestinian resistance group Hamas.

Anwar told parliament that Malaysia, as a policy, has a relationship with Hamas and this will continue.

The pressures on the Islamic countries that support the Palestinian nation increased after the recent operation of Hamas in the occupied territories, known as the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation.

The Israel-Palestine conflict began when Hamas initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israel, a multi-pronged surprise attack including a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel via land, sea, and air, which Hamas said was in retaliation for the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Al-Quds and Israeli settlers’ growing violence against Palestinians.

In response, the Israeli military launched Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. Israel's response has extended to cutting water and electricity supplies to Gaza, further worsening the living conditions in an area that has reeled under a crippling siege since 2007.

More than 2,400 Palestinians have been killed in the current bout of violence, including at least 1,100 Palestinians and 1,300 Israelis.

More than 1,000 Palestinians missing under the rubble of buildings destroyed by Israeli air attacks on Gaza, rescuers say.

Aid workers describe the situation in Gaza as absolutely catastrophic.

Israel's war with Hamas has also been extended to southern Lebanon, and clashes between the Israeli army and the Lebanese resistance have occurred in this region.

In this regard, on Sunday, October 15th, Lebanon's Hezbollah bombed several targets in northern Israel in response to Israel's provocative actions.
