AhlulBayt News Agency: South African President Cyril Ramaphosa pledged today support for the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip, as the Israeli occupation forces are demanding 1,1 million Palestinian civilians to evacuate the northern part of Gaza.
Speaking outside the African National Congress (NEC) meeting in Birchwood hotel in Ekurhuleni, Ramaphosa said, "The worst part is when the Israeli government says 1,1 million people must evacuate the northern part of Gaza having closed all the existing routes."
The South African leader called on "the international community such as the UN to make sure peace is installed in Palestine and Israel withdraws this command of removing all the Palestine from the northern part of Gaza."
"As you would know this is an unfolding situation and changes from hour by hour. Our government agencies, our international relations department as well as our intelligence services and the defense intelligent agencies are monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis," he said.
"Residences of people in that part of the world are raised to the floor, pregnant women are not even able to give birth in a respectable manner. Hospitals are raised to the floor," he added.
The South African leader urged "the international community to accelerate its support for an inclusive process towards a lasting and durable peace that produces a viable Palestinian State within the 1967 internationally recognized borders with East Jerusalem as its capital."
