Malaysian Muslim body urges total boycott of Israel

A Malaysian Islamic body called on all Muslim countries to break ties with the Israel and impose sanctions on the occupation regime.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A Malaysian Islamic body called on all Muslim countries to break ties with the Israel and impose sanctions on the occupation regime.

The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (Mapim) issued the call, urging all Muslim states to impose a total sanction on Israel over their full blockade on Gaza.

Mapim President Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid listed out six suggestions, advocating for a collective response from Muslim nations to be up in arms against the inhumane act and exert pressure on Israel to end the blockade.

"We call for Muslim countries to break all diplomatic relations with Israel. Second, join forces with United States (US) civil societies that despise the funding of Israel's terrorism against Palestine. Third, break any direct and indirect trade with Israel.

"Fourth, issue a global statement endorsed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries to boycott Israel. Fifth, pressure Egypt to distance away from Israel and work towards opening the border between Egypt and Gaza.

"Also, last but not least, OIC countries to file Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and International Criminal Court (ICC) to undergo due process of international law and to be prosecuted for crimes against humanity, genocide and violations of international human rights," said Mohd Azmi in a statement Wednesday.

Mapim criticized Israel's action in blocking access to food, water, fuel and electricity in Gaza as a violation of international law and tantamount to war crimes.

"Netanyahu's declaration of war and turning Gaza into an island of destruction is a criminal pledge to annihilate Gaza.

"The 17 years siege on Gaza has had a devastating impact on the daily livelihood of Gaza. Unfortunately, Muslim nations have done little to pressure Israel to lift the blockade.

"With the massive military retaliation by Hamas, under the Al Aqsa Flood Operation to end the occupation, Gaza is now facing a collective punishment by Israel at the level of a human catastrophe," he said.

Mapim urged the need for all Muslim countries to unite in providing aid to Gaza and advocate legal action against Israel for crimes against humanity.

"We call for Muslim nations to counter the blockade and push Egypt to cooperate in allowing aid through the Rafah crossing.

"The OIC member states should address the Palestinian issue not only in words but also in action. It must be translated into a forceful impact to isolate and pressure Israel to the maximum," said Mapim.

The recent clashes in Palestine involving Hamas and the Israeli regime have resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives on both sides since Saturday, Oct 7.

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on Tuesday that the recent escalation in the Israel-Palestine conflict had led to the displacement of nearly 150,000 people in the Gaza Strip.
